Over 1,600 youth leaders from all over Karnataka will hold a four-day convention – Yuvajanotsava on the theme – “Youth Caring for Earth for a Better World”, October 24-27 in Ballari. Aimed at empowering the youth for leadership roles, Yuvajanotsava is jointly organized by the Youth Commission of the Karnataka Catholic Bishops’ Council (KRCBC) and Bellary Diocese. The event will be held at ADHYTMA Hall in Ballari Arogya Mathe Shrine Church premises.
During the convention, the youth will deliberate on various topics such as caring for the mother earth, promotion of innovative farming, strengthening the constitutional democracy, interreligious harmony, among other topics.
The solemn inaugural programme will be held at 5 pm on October 24 which will be inaugurated by Poojya Sri Nijagunaprabhu Thontadarya Swamigalu of Thontadarya Mutt, Mundargi and Nishkala Mantap, Bailur. Bishop of Bellary Dr Henry D’Souza will preside over the function. Ballari Rural MLA Sri Nagendra, MLC Sri KC Kondiah and MLC Sri Allum Veerbhadrappa will be the Chief Guests.
Eminent personalities like Rt. Judge of Supreme Court and Former Lokayukta Justice Santhosh Hegde, Progressive and National Innovative Farmer Ms Kavitha Mishra and Sri Suryanarayana Reddy will address the youth on the theme of the convention. The youth leaders would be launching a number of service programmes at 3.00 PM on Oct. 26.
Government of Karnataka’s Minister for Health Sri Sriramulu will launch the Swachch Bharat cleaning programme at VIMS, Ballari. City MLA Sri G. Somshekar Reddy will inaugurate Green Karnataka sapling planting programme. In addition, the youth will take up other programmes such as Beautiful Ballari Wall Painting programme and Caring Ballari Blood Donation Camp in the city.
The youth will hold a Rally for Peace and Progress on Sunday, October 27. The Archbishop of Bangalore Dr Peter Machado and other Bishops of Karnataka will lead the rally. Rajya Sabha Member Dr. Nasser Hussain will flag off the rally.
The valedictory programme on Sunday, October 27 will be attended by the Archbishop of Bangalore, the Bishops of Karnataka and by Sri. KJ George MLA & former minister, Sri Ivan D’Souza, MLC and Sri. J R Lobo, Ex MLA are expected to participate.
