Dubai: The four-member expatriate Malayalee family has joined the Guinness Book of Records for producing the world’s largest Bible manuscript. Manoj Varghese, who lives in Dubai, his wife Susan, with their children Karun and Grace, have written the world’s largest manuscript in 153 days. Written on A1 paper size of 151 kg, this giant Bible has 1,500 pages. The 85.5 cm long and 60.7 cm wide manuscript is currently preserved at the Marthoma Church in Jebel Ali.

The Guinness Book of Records has sent a report, including a video of the Bible, to the bible, after the manuscript analyst has verified the Bible’s text, in the presence of the concerned examiner. At the same time, Susan repeats that the purpose of the Bible was not to enter Guinness Records.
Originally it was decided to write on the normal size page as a gift to their children. After much research, interior design firm proprietor Manoj Varghese inspired the family to write a larger-than-life Bible. The mission was broadened to make everyone in the family participate in the errand. Writing began on May 11th which was completed on October 10, 153 days later. Susan herself has completed 60 books of the Bible. The rest were bifurcated to the rest of the family.
Susan says the experience was like a pilgrimage. Manoj and Family handed the book to their Parish in Jebel Ali on occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Mar Thoma Church in Dubai. The handing over was done in the presence of Mar Joseph of the Syro Malabar Church in Dubai, Last Friday. The plan is to put this Bible in a special ark there.
