Philippines Bishops expressed their deepest gratitude to the outgoing Papal Nuncio, Archbishop Giuseppe Pinto in his farewell gathering at Manila, Philippines, where at least 25 prelates were assembled to bid sent-off to His Excellency Archbishop Pinto. The Bishops recalled and appreciated for the significant role played by His Grace Archbishop Pinto in responding to the needs of victims of super typhoon Haiyan which occurred in 2013.
As reported by ucanews.com, His Excellency Archbishop Socrates Villegas of Lingayen-Dagupan, president of the bishops’ conference, remarked that “Archbishop became the face of Jesus for us when he spent Christmas with the typhoon victims and he showed us the face of the Lord, which is mercy and compassion.” Further, His Grace added, “It was during Archbishop Pinto’s term that Filipinos were honored and blessed with the visit of Pope Francis in 2015.”
At the end of the farewell event, His Excellency Archbishop Pinto reflected that “I will bring with me wonderful memories of the Filipino people, who , in spite of their many hardships and trials, remain resilient supported by resolute faith in God.”
