70 new priests were ordained in a historic moment by Cardinal Jose Francisco Robles Ortega, the Archbishop of Guadalajara on June 4 and 5 in Mexico. The ceremony was held at Mexican Martyrs Shrine. 33 priests were ordained on June 4 and 37 priests on June 5.
The Archbishop in his homily reminded the new priests that ‘they were ordained to serve God and His people, and not the world.’ He also emphasized that the priests must not forget about their origins, as that will create distance between him and the community he is assigned to serve.
The Diocesan Seminary of Guadalajara is one of the largest in the world, with 1186 students enrolled.
