PALA: The peasant wall, rally and the big meeting held on the banks of the Meenachillar yesterday under the slogan ‘For rights against neglect’ by the diocese of Pala was one of the biggest peasant movements in Kerala. At 2.30 pm, the peasants gathered at the five centers in the city of Pala and gathered at the Pala Kurisupalli intersection for a rally led by the bishops. Mar Joseph Kallarangat joined the Karshaka Kari from Ezhuthiyoor Junction and Erattupetta Road. Mar Jacob Murikkunil and Mar Joseph Pallikaparappan joined in a rally from the Civil Station Junction at the Karshaka Rally, which started at the Cathedral grounds.
Tens of thousands gathered behind the bishops and clergy yesterday and reached the confluence of the Kurisupalli Junction, which became a farmer’s paradise. Bishop Mar Joseph Kallarangadu presided over the convention. He warned that if farmers still ignore it, farmers will reply with a vote in the three-tier panchayat elections. Around 100,000 people took part in a farmer rally organized by the Archdiocese of Thalassery a few days ago.
