Washington, DC: The death of John Sebastian Laird Hammond, a Franciscan monk, is the first coronation death in Washington, the capital of the United States. He is 59 years old, a deacon of the Franciscan Monastery of Holy Land in America. The death news was confirmed Saturday by Larry Dunham, Superior of the Monastery Home. Larry Dunham said Hammond had been in the monastery since 1980 and had been working as its manager for 14 years.
Hammond recently received a transfer order to New York to raise funds for the mission activities in Central America. Larry Dunham has revealed that Hammond has been diagnosed with leukemia for a long time. He was diagnosed with leukemia but had been in good health for the past February, he said. In the United States, however, the death toll from Covid has risen to 348.
