Thiruvananthapuram / Thalassery: Students have filed a petition to the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Excise Minister TP Ramakrishnan and Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala on behalf of the Anti-Drugs Students Union. The petition was submitted by collecting signatures from more than a quarter of a million students from over 200 schools in the Kannur Kasargod district.
The move was driven by students’ fears that these intoxicants could have serious consequences for the family, community, and children in particular. Students are more likely to become addicted to alcohol and other substances when it’s more likely to have an access to make and consume alcohol easily. When it comes to drinking alcohol from an early age, a specific alcohol policy may lead to misconceptions.
The children have submitted to the government the need to enforce strict policies. The event was held in Thiruvananthapuram in the presence of MLAs KC Joseph and Sunny Joseph. The dedication was led by Jose Let Mathew, ADSU Organizer Adv Manoj M Kandathil, Chief Animator Albin Mandumpala, and ADSU General Secretary Ebin Mathews.
