The 7th Asian Youth Day, in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, is attracting the young minds each day with varieties of activities which makes the youth feel and experience new divine adventures in life. On August 4, 2017, the day began with the theme “Being United in Cultural Diversity” to emphasize the role of Asian Youth living in diversity. The delegates were taken to 25 destinations by bus as a part of exposure activity. The destinations included ecclesiastical and cultural places such as church, school, and community.
In each destination, the delegates participated and discussed with the community about their local problems by getting involved in their cultural activities and learning new things from it. The Center for Liturgical Music was an interesting place where each delegate was given a chance to play angklung, gamelan, and kolitang which are traditional instruments of Indonesia.
Asian Youth Day had invited the Moslems to share their experience about the religion with the energetic young Asian minds to make them understand about Islam, which is the major religion in the country. Young Moslems who took part in this meeting were the volunteers who prepared themselves to have sharing with Asian Youth Day. At the end of the day, after having a wonderful and intense discussion in the session, the delegates returned to Jogja Expo Center (JEC), realizing and recollecting the values and virtues they obtained from the day’s activities.
