Rome: Astronomer and scientist of the Vatican Observatory Fr. Chris Corbelli’s name was given to an asteroid. The asteroid was named after the asteroid 119248 in 2001, discovered by Roy Tucker, a scientist at the University of Arizona. Tucker conducted the research in collaboration with the Vatican Observatory.

A native of London, Fr. Corbelli has been a scientist at the Vatican Observatory since 1983. Studies on the constellations are now under the direction of Fr. Corbelli. The names of 11 Jesuit clergymen associated with the Vatican Observatory have so far been named asteroids.
