On 30th June 2017 , German Bishops expressed their regret and disappointment against the decision of approving gay marriages in the country by the Parliament. Heiner Koch, the Archbishop of Berlin conveyed that the approval is against the fundamental characteristic of marriage , not only in the Christian point of view but also in the universal point.
As reported by the catholic news agency , His Excellency stressed that , “ The Fathers of the German Constitution gave such pride of place because they wanted to protect and strengthen those who , as a mother and father , want to give a life to their children. Further , His Grace added , “ I regret the fact that the legislature has give up on the essential aspects of the marriage concept in order to make the latter amenable to same sex-partnerships.”
Bishops in German believes that the lawmakers in the country have changed the definition of marriage and asked the Catholics in the country to continue the truth and goodness of marriage publically , being a faithful Christian and reminded them to stay in good Catholic Faith . The approval of the decision would now go to the higher level of the hierarchy for legal acceptance and is likely to come into effect before the end of 2017.
