Bishops in Venezuela observed and organized a day fasting by offering prayers for the country where the riots are still continuing in opposition to Nicholas Maduro, the President of Venezuela. The Bishops in the country asked the faithful to pray for the efforts of Venezuelan s for freedom, justice and peace and also requested the citizens to participate in fasting to get the strength to be united in Christ even in the midst of struggles.
As reported by Catholic News Agency, a lay person living in Venezuela, who preferred to speak on terms of anonymity stated that, “A prayer and a fast is something very powerful which are often trivialized and so a prayer and sacrifice of an unknown person in any unknown place can change the world.”
It is been reported that an estimated number of around 300 people have already been arrested for protesting against the government in recent days.
