Rome: The special prayer services and vigil associated to the Canonization of Bl. Mariam Thresia Chiramel Mankidiyan will happen today, the 12th of October, 2019 at Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore, one of the most important basilicas among the four other basilicas in Rome. The vigil was organized by the faithful of the Syro Malabar Church. The midnight prayers would be led by the President of the Canonization Council Cardinal Giovanni Angelo Bechu, Archbishop of the archdiocese of Thrissur, Mar Andrews Thazhathu and the Apostolic Visitator of Europe, Bishop Mar Stephen Chirapanath. 

The head of the Syro Malabar Church, Major Archbishop Cardinal Mar George Alenchery and the CBCI President Cardinal Oswald Gracias and 44 bishops of the church, would offer special prayers during the worship session. Following a procession to the Basilica, the prayers would be initiated. The Congregation of the Holy Family Sisters, Sr. Pushpa CHF (Vicar General), Sr. Maria Stella (General Councilor) would surrender special offering in front of the statue of Bl. Mariam Thresia. 

The evening prayers and the prayers following that, would be led by Cardinal Giovanni Angelo Bechu, while the readings would be led by Sr. Bhavya CHF and the former Supreme Court Judge, Justice Kurian Joseph. Cardinal Bechu would administer the homily during the vigil. Sinjora Adriana, Mother Sr. Prasanna Thattil, Sr. Ranjana, Margaret Ritter, and Sr. Olive Jein will conduct the intercessory prayers. General instructions of the schedule will be informed to the faithful by Rev. Fr. Sanal Maliyekkal and Rev. Fr. Paul Robin Theckedath. Before the prayers begin, a brief glimpse of the life of Bl. Mariam Thresia Chiramel Mankidiyan would be read out to the faithful by Dr. Clement Chirayath.
