of Father Martin Xavier, who was found dead on a beach in West Barns, near Dunbar town in Scotland on 23rd June, would be sent soon to his native in Kerala.

“The news of Fr.Martin Xavier’s death comes as a great shock and great sadness to all those who knew him and loved him” grieved Archbishop Leo Cushley of St.Andrews and Edinburgh as reported by  Hindustan Times. Fr.Martin Xavier was ordained as a priest of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate in Kerala at the age of 33, in 2013 and he reached Scotland for doing his post graduation from the University of Edinburgh. His family has been informed about his death. Official sources said that the cause of his death remains unknown; he was found in the beach in West Barns which is 28miles east of Edinburgh.

As reported by the Hindustan Times, Father Sebastian Thuruthipillil, parish priest of St.Thomas Church in Whitburn, Scotland and a chaplain to Scotland’s Syro-Malabar community said, “It is a big shock for the Syro-Malabar community in Scotland and has been especially in grief.”
