Kandhamal: A Canada-based Catholic philanthropic organization has come to the aid of children of victims of the anti-Christian riots in the Kandhamal district of Odisha several years ago. Answering the Cry of the Poor International Canada has pledged to provide educational assistance to the 522 children who participated in the event in Rekia, Kandhamal. Al-Basilio, who is in charge of the operations of the organization, said in the Holy Scriptures that faith without action is dead in itself.

Knowing the sacrifice of the Kandhamal Christians who witnessed to Christ till death is very inspiring. He said the torture, murder, and misfortune of being a Christian is very sad and unfortunate. Children from various dioceses of Kandhamal also came to meet the head of the organization who promised to help them. Jenifa Nayak, a Christian girl, said she was grateful for the leadership of the organization that generously supported her education.

Jenifa added that if his father had been alive he would have been happy to see so many compassionate people. Jenifa’s father was killed in the 2008 anti-Christian riots. Answering the Cry of the Poor is a philanthropic organization founded by the Philippines-based ‘Couples for Christ’.
