Major Archbishop Cardinal George Alencherry consecrated St. Alphonsa Syro-Malabar Catholic Church in Edmonton, Canada, on 29th July, 2017. St. Alphonsa church is the first Syro-Malabar Mission in Canada under St.Thomas Diocese, Chicago. The Mission was inaugurated by Mar Jacob Angadiath on 7th October, 2012, under the directorship of Rev. Dr. John Kudiyiruppil.

At present, the church has 258 registered families and is getting bigger week by week, under the spiritual guidance of Fr. John Kudiyiruppil; the families assemble every Sunday to celebrate Holy Mass. The Church gives major importance to the catechism department in order to build up and strengthen the faith of the children in Jesus Christ.

Increasing churches gives hope and courage to the faithful all over the world since the church plays a very significant role in structuring a Christian’s life. St. Alphonsa Syro-Malabar Catholic Church is the third church in Canada, in last two years and is added as a golden feather in the Faith of Catholics.
