BANGALORE: The Archbishop of Bombay has been appointed as the President of the All-Catholic Catholic Bishops’ Committee (CBCI). Oswald Gracias was re-elected. The new president was elected at the CBCI biennial conference at the St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences, Bengaluru.
Joshua Mar Ignatius, the Mavelikkara Diocese of the Malankara Catholic Church, was re-elected as the First Vice President of the CBCI. Dr. Vasai Archbishop of Mumbai Felix Anthony Machado is the new Secretary-General.
Their duration is two years. He is also a member of Pope Francis’ Advisory Council, President of the Federation of Asian Bishops Conference and President of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI), a group of Latin bishops. Oswald Gracias has worked. He is the former secretary-general of the CBCI and former chairman of the Agra Archdiocese.
