Holy Father Pope Francis while addressing the faithful gathered in the chapel of the Domus Sanctae Marthae for the Holy Mass, conveyed that the scandal wounds hearts and kills hope and warned the faithful to stay away from scandals. His Holiness stressed that the things causing sins will inevitably occur but woe to the one through whom they occur.
As reported by news.va, Holy Father Pope Francis remarked that “Be careful not to scandalize, Sandal is evil because scandal wounds- it wounds God’s people where they are most vulnerable and strikes the People of God where they are weakest- and many times, the wounds inflicted by scandal are borne by the faithful throughout their lives.” Further, His Holiness added, “Not only does it harm: scandal is capable of murder- of killing hopes, killing dreams, killing families, killing so many hearts.”
His Holiness concluded his homily by asking the faithful to examine their conscience: “Do I have a scandal?” If so, how? And exhorted the faithful that by examining one’s conscience, one will be able to answer the Lord and approach Him a little more closely.
