Bhubaneswar: During the Lockdown period, the services of the active Apostolic Carmel Congregation Church members are a relief to the working people and the common man. The monastic community is now actively involved in the rescue operation against St. John’s Hospital, Bangalore. They have already produced seventy protective gowns and are aiming to prepare a hundred more.

In addition, food items, masks, and sanitizers are also being distributed to street vendors through the country’s various monasteries. The masks were set up at Bandra in Mumbai, Mehsana in Gujarat and Kozhikode and were distributed to villagers and travelers free of charge. In Patna, the monastic community extended a helping hand to the transgender community by providing rationing and sanitizing for two months.
