Catholic Churches in Jammu- Srinagar Diocese has launched a new system for encouraging peace among the students through “Peace- education”. The main aim of this project is to educate young people on the need for peace on the Indian side of the India-Pak border. India and Pakistan have fought at least three major wars over Kashmir which killed many and thus, now the churches in the state have launched the project to notify the people about the significance of peace in the state.
As reported by ucanindia.in, Fr. Saiju Chacko, director of Catholic Social Service Society, Jammu-Srinagar Diocese’s social service wing, remarked that “The diocesan project is an effort to foster friendship and oneness by accepting that we belong to one human family.”
“The disturbances along the Indo-Pak border often results in school shut-downs , which are slowing the project flow but I hope that we will be able to overcome some of these challenges.”, said Fr. Premful Tigga, assistant director of the social service wing, as reported by ucanindia.in.
