Pushpa Mission Hospital working under the Syro-Malabar Diocese in Ujjain was allegedly attacked by a group of locals led by a renowned political party on 12th March, 2018, following a dispute over a piece of land, which both sides claim belong to them. Catholic Congress of Pala Diocese has made an appeal to the National Commission for Minorities’ Vice Chairman Shri. George Kurian, asking the commission to take an immediate and necessary action against the attack.
Catholic Congress reminded the commission to protect the human rights entrusted to every citizen as per the Indian constitution, through their appeal. Shri. George Kurian explained the attack comparing it to the conflict that was created against the Catholics in Satna and highlighted that the appeal would be submitted to the Prime Minister and the Defense Minister soon.
Nurses who tried to stop the attackers were harmed and beaten up brutally. The attackers claimed that a local court has authorized them to occupy the disputed site but the Church officials have denied it by saying that the charges against them were framed under political influence. Let us pray for the Church officials and the hospital authorities and stand together in prayers against the increasing religious persecutions in the country.
