Abuja: The services of Catholic nuns continue to shed the tears of street children in Nigeria following the coronary epidemic. The nuns are members of the Daughters of Divine Love Church, a charity home in Enugu State in southeastern Nigeria that provides food and other assistance to street children who have no one. They provide care and education for over 50 homeless children in their charity homes.
Sister Veritas Onyemeluke says that serving the poor is their mission and that they will continue their service no matter what the difficulty. In addition to these services, food items purchased by the nuns are cooked and packaged before the announcement of the lockdown. They also supply face masks and sanitizers made using locally available accessories.
In the south-western part of Nigeria, the nuns of the same church cook and distribute food for street children at their convent. In addition to the Church of the Daughters of Divine Love, the nuns of other churches and charitable deeds are active among the poor. The Sisters of the Sisters of the Notre Dame de Namur Church in Ilorin, South-West Nigeria, distributed food packets to more than 50 children last week. These nuns are a fine example of the kindness of Jesus’ teaching, in spite of the great challenges posed by the pestilence, and no voluntary restrictions.
