NEW DELHI: The government has opened new avenues for the cruelty of abortion without respecting the dignity of life. The forty-nine-year-old bill to amend the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act of 1971 has given rise to the possibility of aborting babies up to six months in abortion. Union Minister Prakash Javadekar told the media that the bill has been approved by the Cabinet. Abortion is currently only approved for up to 20 weeks. The move to reform the abortion law was met with overwhelming opposition, but the bill was unanimously approved by the Center.
The KCBC Pro-life Committee has called for the government’s decision to amend the abortion permit. KCBC Family Commission Chairman Bishop Paul Mullassery presided over the meeting which was held at Palarivattom POC headquartered in Kerala Catholic Church. In 1971, under strict conditions of the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act in India, feticide was approved in India for up to 12 weeks. But it is now up to 20 weeks, but the central government’s decision to increase it to 24 weeks will create a favorable situation for the fetus. There is no difference between the fetus and the unborn child. There is only an age difference.
The KCBC Pro-life Committee will lead a wide range of campaigns, activities and public meetings against legislation that will lead to homicide, leading to female feticide and abortion. To organize life-saving message rallies across Kerala in collaboration with various religious and cultural leaders. The meeting concluded that denying the right to be born would tarnish the culture. KCBC Deputy Secretary-General Rev Fr Varghese Vallikattu, Pro-life Council State Director Fr Paul Madassery President Shri Sabu Jose, Advocate Josi Xavier, Mr Tommy Plan Thottam, James Arschangadan and Smt Nancy Paul addressed the gathering.
