BEIJING – Chinese Christians are turning their homes into houses of prayer in the wake of a serious coronavirus outbreak. The gathering of people for the Holy Eucharist is prohibited because of the state of emergency in the country. In this case, Christians in the country are praying at home. On Sundays, people gathered in their homes to pray and meditate on the Word of God. Meanwhile, the bishops of most dioceses in China have advised believers to cancel gatherings and other celebrations to prevent the spread of the disease.
Bishop Joseph Lee Shan of Beijing has called on all people to pray together to read the Bible, to pray, and to find time to pray to save the country from the epidemic. China, meanwhile, admitted that it had failed to prevent coronavirus infection. According to official figures, in the last week or so, around 400 people have died due to the disease in China.
