Florida: Global community mourns the death of renowned preacher Reinhard Bongay, better known as ‘Billy Graham of Africa’. On December 7, at the age of seventy-nine, Bongay, who had organized the world’s largest proclamation of the Word of God in America, died. Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his condolences over the death of Bongay, saying: “The loss of Africa and the world is a loss of time.” Bongaye came to know the world through his decades of evangelistic work in Africa.
Fox News reports that over 7.9 million people accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord as a result of his ministry. The news that Bonke was called to eternal death was announced to his family via Facebook. Bonke, the founder of the evangelistic organization Christ for All Nations (Christ for All Nations), has been proclaiming the word in Nigeria for decades. Bonke was also known for his healing services.
Born in 1940 in Konigsberg, Germany. Bonga, a member of the German Pentecostal church, received God’s call to evangelism at the age of ten. Bungay’s evangelistic work, which began in 1967, continued until 2017. In 1974 he founded the evangelistic organization ‘Christ for All Nations’. In November 2000, about six million people attended his ministry in Lagos, Nigeria. About 17 lakh people attended the farewell service held in Nigeria in October 2017.
As part of his ministry, he toured various parts of India, including Kerala. He has forty books in his name. In addition to Nigerian President Buhari, the spiritual advisor of the US President, Paula White-Kain, Pastor Benny Hin, and Hillsong Church Global Senior Pastor Brian Houston, conveyed their condolences.
