Amritsar: A celebrity has apologized for his controversial remarks about Jesus Christ in a television show aired on Christmas. The Ajnala police in Amritsar have filed an FIR against Bollywood star Raveena Tandon, filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan, and comedian Bharati Singh on the basis of a complaint that he made derogatory remarks about Jesus Christ on the television show and slandered Hallelujah. Raveena and Farah Khan, along with Captain Alvin Saldana, visited the National Catholic Bishops’ Council, Cardinal Oswald Gracias, and apologized.
Both of them apologized to the Cardinal for hurting the religious feelings of the Christian community. Farah Khan sounded the cardinal’s apology to Bharti Singh, who was not in the country. “The Cardinal blessed us both by reminding us that Jesus loves us and forgives us when we do wrong,” he said. Twitter has also apologized for its sentiment.
Raveena said on Twitter that she apologized if anyone was upset. Farah Khan tweeted that he was sorry to hear that some of the references to the recent episode of his show had hurt some people and that he apologized to the entire team of the show. The complaint was filed by Sonu Jaffer, president of the Christian Front in Ajnala block, on a complaint filed with the TV show. Section 295-A of the Indian Penal Code has been charged with willful acts that infringe on any religion, creed or religion.
