Around thirty seminarians and few priests of the St. Epherm’s Theological College, situated at Satna, Madhya Pradesh, were detained by the police. They were conducting a Christmas carol singing programme on 14 December in the near by area, which was a regular practice during the Christmas time.
Later the police took them to the Civil Lines police station following a complaint from someone, who is yet unknown.
The mob in protesting against Christmas Carol have created a situation where the Priests and Catholics were virtually denied the entry towards the police station. One of the vehicles of the Priests, which was parked outside the police station, was set on fire, as reported by a witness. The Catholic Faithful who rushed from the nearby areas were threatened by the angry mob. As soon as this incident took place the higher police officials rushed to the place. Let’s pray for Rev. Fr. Joseph Ottapuzhakal, Fr. Alex Pandarakkappil, Fr. George Mangalapilly, Fr. George Petayil CMF and Seminars, who are under the police custody.
Further details are awaited.
