The Kerala Catholic Bishops Conference of India (KCBC) has decided to organize a platform for the deaf to get married irrespective of the caste, religion and creed. KCBC is planning to host the event on the coming Sunday,14th April which will give an opportunity for the deaf to interact with each other and make a choice of sharing the life with the appropriate partners.
The families of the potential brides and groom are given an opportunity to know each other, escalate the discussions and arrange the marriage at the gathering itself. “Catholic church has always been an open minded institution”, said Fr Paul Madassery, the secretary of KCBC family commission, as reported by TOI.
The number of deaf people are very less and they cannot find a life partner if they are limited by a religious and cultural borders, added the priest. The gathering would be held at Pastoral orientation centre, Palarivattom from 11 am to 12 pm on Sunday. Around 50 deaf people are expected in the gathering. KCBC has already opened up the matrimonial portal with the name ‘KCBC Matrimony for the deaf’ being unique among the several matrimonial set up’s existing online.
