Kochi: The leaders of various churches have decided to mediate in the Orthodox-Jacobite dispute. Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church, Cardinal Mar George Alencherry, Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malankara Church, Cardinal Baselios Klimis, Archbishop of Latin M. Joseph Marthoma Bishop of the Mar Thoma Church, CSI In this regard, the Orthodox and Jacobite leaders have written a letter to Oman.

Church controversy is a painful thing. The letter stated that the disputes over the matter, including funeral and church attendance, are causing great pain to the Christian community and are ready to intervene to resolve the issue. The decision of the Supreme Court to decide on the differences between the two factions was held on November 27, 2019, at Thiruvananthapuram.

It was decided at this meeting to intervene and mediate in the debate. The Jacobite Church welcomes the letter of the church overseers offering mediation. It is unclear what the Orthodox Church’s response to the letter is.
