The Inter-Church Council which was held in Kottayam under the guidance of His Eminence Cardinal George Alencherry, Major Archbishop of Syro Malabar Church, conveyed that it is significant for the Christian community to stand united in order to overcome all the challenges that the Church faces today.
As reported by syromalabarchurch.in, The Council emphasized that “It is necessary for the Church to be united to fight against the social, religious problems that are increasingly disturbing the nation. The crisis that we face in each stage of ministry should be encountered with courage without compromising the values and virtues of the Church. The Church should help and give special focus to the fishers, farmers and indigenous people who are facing difficulties.” Further, it said that “It is important to help the Dalits in the country and for all these, we need to arrange hierarchical meetings accordingly.”
18 Bishops attended the council representing their Churches respectively. .” The Council also expressed heartfelt condolences over the death of Mar Ivanios.
