MISSOURI: The controversy surrounding the death of George Floyd is being debated by a Catholic clergyman and group that has defended the image of St. Louis in St. Louis, Missouri. The Archdiocese of St. Louis in unity has become defensive led by a priest named Stephen Schumacher. St. Louis’ sculpture was placed here in 1906. Already there were indications that the protesters would arrive with a move to destroy the figure.
Following this, a large number of devotees came to the place before the protesters arrived to secure the image of the king who was responsible for the name of their city. Fr. Stephen Schumacher and his team were standing in front of the figure without threatening. Louis VIII was the only French king to be elevated to the Catholic Church. Historical records say that he was described as a righteous ruler and showed compassion even to his enemies.
