Ranchi: Extremists groups in Jharkhand’s Ranchi attacked a college run by the Jesuit priests. The management has reported that around five hundred Hindu extremists had kickstarted the mob.  Following huge loss and damage to property, the college hasn’t been functional for a week now. The college administration is headed by the Jesuit priests of Dumariyaganj Province which is nearly 38kms away from the city of Sahebganj. As reported by Rev. Fr. Thomas Kazhivellil, the college has undergone immense damage to property and isn’t capable of resuming classes. Fr. Kazhivellil is the Secretary of St. John Berkman’s Inter- College.

Even after eight days of the incident, the police department hasn’t taken any action against the offenders. The management has reported an estimated loss of 15 Lakh Rupees. A request has been sent by the college administrators to the Governor of Jharkhand, Chief Minister, National Human Rights Commission and the National Minority Law Commission, urging speedy justice and action.
