The faithful of the Eparchy of Kalyan, participate in a night long walking pilgrimage, called the Mahatheerthadanam, which is analogous of Jesus’ walk to the Calvary. This pilgrimage has been successfully conducted on the last Friday before the Holy Week since 2014 by Kalyan Eparchy Youth, the youth wing of the diocese.
The walk begins at the Mother of Victory Church, Tikujiniwadi and culminates at the St. Thomas Cathedral Church, Kalyan West. The walk is preceded by the Holy Qurbana and the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. The walk begins with each Forane walking in groups in prayer and enthusiasm to walk through the long dark night in preparation of the soul for the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. The walk ends with a prayer service at the Cathedral.
This year too, the diocese invites it’s faithful to participate in the event in large numbers, to walk by faith and not by sight alone.
