Thiruvananthapuram: The Malankara Syrian Catholic Church has declared its 24th regular Episcopal Synod. Beginning on March 2, the bishops met with the Secretaries of the Synod of the Congregation and the Superior of the Monastic Communities. The Synod discussed the church’s paganism and other general issues. Cardinal Baselios Cleemis Catholicos Bawa presided. The bishops visited St. Mary’s Malankara Seminary in Nalangchira, the religious training center of the church.

Archbishop Dr. Thomas Mar Coorillos, Bishops Dr. Joshua Mar Ignatius, Dr. Joseph Mar Thomas, d. Jacob Mar Barnabas, Dr. Samuel Mar Irenaeus, d. Philipos Mar Stephanos, Ph.D. Thomas Mar Antonios, Dr. Vincent Mar Paul, Dr. Thomas Mar Eusebius, d. Geevarghese Mar Makarios, Dr. Yuhanon Mar Theodosius, Yuhanon Mar Chrysostom, and Dr Abraham Mar Julius. The Synod will meet again on April 1 and 2 to discuss refining the curriculum and training program of the Veterans Training.
