Holy Father Pope Francis has sent a letter to COP23 UN Convention on climate change which is taking place in Bonn, Germany. The letter was sent to Frank Bainimarama, Prime Minister of the Fiji Islands and was read out to the participants of the conference. His Holiness Pope Francis appreciated the world leaders present at the conference and invited them to maintain a high-level cooperation.
As reported by news.va, Holy Father Pope Francis remarked that “We need an exchange that unites us all because the environmental challenge we are experiencing and its human roots, regards us all and affects us all.”
His Holiness concluded his letter by warning the world leaders present at the conference not to fall into “four perverse attitudes” regarding the future of the planet: denial, indifference, resignation and trust in inadequate solutions. Holy Father also sent his well-wishes that the COP23 would be inspired by the same collaborative and prophetic spirit manifested during the COP-21 event, at which the historic Paris agreement was signed.
