Chennai: Four Catholic priests have died due to Covid’s 19 deaths in different parts of India. Vicar of Holy Trinity Parish, Mogappair East, Madras – Mylapore Archdiocese, Fr. BK Francis Xavier was the last to die of the disease. He was 59 and was admitted to St. Thomas’ Hospital in Chennai. The body was buried in the cemetery for the clergy in the presence of government officials and police, who met the COVID standards.
A few days ago, another clergyman was infected with COVID in the Archdiocese of Mylapore. Meanwhile, the former Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Bangalore, Fr. Antony Swamy was confirmed yesterday to have died of COVID. Fr. Pascal Petrus, and Fr. Joseph EL Pragasam were the other priests who died of the disease.
