NEW YORK (Reuters) – The United States, which has the highest number of covariates in the world, has seen an increase in the number of physicians and sisters who die from the disease. Since the first week of April, the Maryknoll community has lost more than a dozen clergymen in the United States alone, according to media reports. Even within the monastic community, the number of people affected by Covid was almost 50.
More than three hundred clergy and monks live in the Maryknoll Center in Ossining. Other monks’ societies also have a high proportion of coronavirus positive observers. Thirty nuns at the center of Maryknoll have also been infected. Earlier, there were reports that there was an increase in the number of priests and nuns dying worldwide from Covid 19. As of mid-April, more than 130 clergymen had died in Italy alone. Most have died while giving sacraments and performing the service.
