Today is the seventeenth day of the Extraordinary Month of Mission. The Pope, in the beginning of the month, had requested the universal Catholic Church to dedicate the month for the intentions of the missionaries and missionary areas from across the world. In accordance with the same, the Diocese of Kalyan has vowed to pray incessantly for all those affected by a hostile environment, unacceptable social behavior and unfavorable experiences in their missionary journey.
Today, the Diocese observes the day as one, to reflect on the life history of St. Gonsalo Garcia. The saint of Indian descent had left Mumbai to serve the underprivileged in Japan. He taught the children and fulfilled his Evangelical duties until he died as a martyr.
Reflecting on his life, let us lay our complete trust in God and partake in our duty of evangelization through prayers and services. May this day be a day of introspection and fruitful devotion.
