Reflection :-
Virgin Mary was chosen by the Trinity from the beginning of Time. Only God knows the Future.
“Now in the 6th month the Angel Gabriel was sent by God to Nazareth ; to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph; of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.
Was it an arbitrary decision by God to visit Mary? We are force to conclude that the answer is ” no” because God makes his choices based upon certain qualities he sees in the people.
“For the eyes of the LORD ran throughout the Whole earth; to search for those whose heart is loyal to Him. “
In this todays reflection I would like for us to Learn from Mary Why God chose her above all other women to bring His Son into the world.
Scripture did not say that Mary was God or we should worship her. If we are going to learn from Mary how God can use us, we must understand how God took an ordinary woman and use her in an extra ordinary way.
Angel Gabriel greeted Mary and said, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have founded favour with God”
Mary had fear of criticism, uncertainty ,in adequacy and the fear of change. The same fear anyone of us can have it. But Mary showed three qualities that enabled her to become the Mother of God.
- The desire to do God’s will
- The willingness to pay the Cost.
- The faith to trust God’s promise.
God favours people who shows desire to do His will and Mary was willing to do God’s will. She was sensitive to find out God wanted her to do. She was joyful and enthusiastic about doing God’s will. She was humble and yielded. There will be many who just do not understand. Doing God’s will cost us our comfort. This is not accidental, but part of God’s plan.
To follow Christ every one of us will have to give up some worldly stuff. It may be some of our habits. Some of our relationships that are pulling us down. Some of our dreams and ambitions. Mary was willing to pay the Cost and God used her in fabulous way.
Mary’s Response…. ” Be it done to me according to your word “.
And thus she became the Mother of God!
