We do not know for sure the place or circumstances of the death of Virgin Mary. One tradition attests that she died in Jerusalem. Another tradition points to the city of Ephesus, where she is said to have lived for a short time prior to her death.
The doctrine of her assumption doesn’t explicitly state whether she is dead or alive.
she is normally shown in art as alive. Nothing is said in the Bible about the end of Mary’s life, but a tradition dating back to at least the 5th century says the twelve Apostles were miraculously assembled from their far-flung missionary activity to be present at the death, and that is the scene normally depicted, with the apostles gathered round the bed.
As the most glorious Mother of Christ, our Savior and God and the giver of life and immortality ,Mary has been endowed with life by Him. She has received an eternal incorruptibility of the body and has been raised up to Heaven in a way known only to the triune God.
