New Delhi: The Lok Sabha has introduced an amendment bill that would allow abortions to be carried out 24 weeks after conception. The Medical Termination of Pregnancy Amendment Bill 2020 Bill Presented by Harshvardhan. The Union Cabinet had earlier approved the bill. Currently, the permitted period of abortion is 20 weeks. At the same time, there was a strong protest against the bill. Dean Kuriakos issued a notice opposing the presentation of the bill alleging that the new abortion law would legalize homicide.
However, following the commotion in the Lok Sabha on the Delhi riots, they could not speak. Under the new amendment law, 24-week-old abortions are legalized. This is the murder of a fetus. Currently, the term abortion is 20 weeks, and increasing it to 24 weeks can increase fetal mortality. Scientific studies have shown that a 21-week-old fetus has the ability to hear and recognize the mother’s voice. Premature abortion impairs the baby’s right to life. “This is a violation of Article 21 of the Constitution,” Dean Kuriakose said in the notice.
