Kuzhikkattussery: Dhanyan Joseph Vithayathilachan’s memorial day celebration will be held tomorrow at St. Mariam Thresia Pilgrimage Center, Kuzhikkattussery. The 155th birth anniversary and 56th death anniversary of Vithayathilachan are being celebrated. The body of Vithayathilachan, co-founder of the Holy Family Sisters Society and spiritual leader of St. Mariam Thresia, was laid to rest here.
Pilgrim Center Promoter Fr. Sebastian Ezekadan, Fr. Chacko Kattuparanpil will be officiating the celebrations. General Mon, Vicar of the Diocese of Iringalakuda, will offer the divine mass at 8 am today and on the closing day of the feast. Joseph Vithayathilachan was born on July 23, 1865 in Puthenpalli Vithayathil, Angamaly-Ernakulam Archdiocese. He received his ordination on March 11, 1894 at Ollur in the Archdiocese of Thrissur. Vithayathilachan has served in many other places. He was a vicar in Puthenchira and a chaplain in Kuzhikkattussery Convent for a long time. He passed away on June 8, 1964.
