Vatican City: Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI reminds us that through the resurrection of Christ, the mercy of God has come to all and that it is stronger than our weakness. Pope Benedict XVI addressed this issue in a letter to Catholic bishops in Poland, the saint’s hometown, on May 18, celebrating the first anniversary of Pope John Paul II. The Pope also reminds us that we cannot satisfy man’s moral needs fully.
We must undertake moral endeavors in the light of God’s mercy, which becomes the power to heal our weakness. In his letter, Pope Benedict XVI noted that the life of Pope John Paul II was centered on accepting the teaching of the sacrament and helping others to accept it as the objective center of the Christian faith. St. John Paul was born on May 18, 1920.
