His Excellency Bishop Jose Porunnedom of Mananthavady diocese, highlighted the significance of effective communication and said that “many problems in the world could be solved if the communication is done properly.” The Bishop was addressing a meeting of ‘Directors of Internet Mission’ on 26th October, at Mount St. Thomas, Kakkanad. His Excellency Mar Sebastian Vaniyapurackal, the Curia Bishop inaugurated the meeting and His Grace Bishop Mar Jose Porunnedom, the Chairman of the Syro-Malabar Commission for the Internet Mission, delivered the Presidential address in the meeting.
His Excellency Bishop Porunnedom reminded that “The Internet Mission is an initiative taken up by the Church to make the world understand about how to use the Internet in a positive way.” The Bishop also highlighted the importance of social media communications in today’s world. He urged the people to communicate effectively and asked them to send replies to the social media messages at proper time since he believes that late replies for some messages could create serious problems.
It was in 2006 that the Synod of the Syro-Malabar Church decided to form a team for the ‘Internet Mission’ in order to enlighten the world about the positive use of the internet. The meeting was held in the presence of Fr. Joby Maprakavil, His Excellency Bishop Jose Porunnedom, Fr. Antony Kollanur and other directors of the Internet Mission.
