The Eparchy of Kalyan has always stood beyond the line in helping the needy ones during the struggle. The Diocese made themselves a pioneer in extending their helping hands towards the suffering brethren in flood affected Kerala. The faithful in the diocese have not only minimized their festive and celebrations but have also come together to help and support Kerala by contributing their bits to the state.
His Excellency Bishop Mar Thomas Elavanal of Kalyan Diocese had urged the faithful to pray for Kerala in this struggling stage and asked the people to support the state in order to rebuild their Kerala and to regain their lost hopes. As per the information received from Fr. Franklin Joseph, PRO of the diocese, As a first step, the diocese will help 100 families with financial aid.
The priests of the diocese will be contributing to the state by donating their one month’s stipend to the flood relief operations. The Churches of the diocese have already packed their boxes of usable materials for the victims of Kerala flood and the trucks with the materials have been sent to the state with bundles of love and care.
