Vatican City: Pope Francis, during the Ad Limina meet of all Syro Malabar Bishops at the Vatican City reminded the attendees that it is through testimonials that effective evangelization should take place. He took the opportunity to clarify the fact that the ultimate goal of evangelization if spreading the love and mercy of God into the humankind and not increasing the number of believers by any possible methods.
The Pontiff shared his opinions on contemporary catholic issues that are involved with evangelization in modern times. He also discussed with the bishops, the problems faced by the faithful in gulf countries and the possible means to channelize the faith of young members of the church.
The Ad Limina meet also saw the Pope expressing his willingness to visit India.
Before meeting with the Pope, the 48 Syro Malabar Bishops from India visited the Tomb of St. Peter and concelebrated Holy Qurbana subsequently, the main celebrant being his gracious Major Archbishop Cardinal Mar George Allenchery. The Bishops would conclude the Ad Limina Meet and return to the country on the 14th of October, a day after the canonization of Bl. Mariam Thresia of Indian descent.
