His Eminence Cardinal Mar George Alencherry, Catholic Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church, while addressing the faithful gathered at Assumption College, for the inauguration of Changanassery Archdiocese Pastoral Council-Presbyteral Council Golden Jubilee celebration, conveyed that the faithful should take part in development of the nation and explained their significant roles in building up a nation without being politically biased.
As reported by syromalabarchurch.in, His Lordship Cardinal Alencherry remarked that “Church should fight where human values and human rights are violated and disregarded and thus we have got a significant and accountable role to play in building up a nation, those who have the potential to politically guide the nation to serve the society should go ahead for it and help the people.” Further, His Eminence added, “Faithful should be able to judge the politics and the ruling system in the country and should be able to give responsible and effective suggestions and this is why we pray to protect the church and the nation in unity.”
His Eminence Cardinal Mar George Alencherry reminded the faithful that Catholic Congress should act more efficiently for developing the nation and for helping the common people and emphasized that the faithful should be courageous enough to voice against any injustice in the society.
