On 3rd July 2017, Father Nicholas Barla took over the in-charge, as the new official for Tribal Affairs of Catholic Bishop Conference of India (CBCI) at a function held in Delhi by the CBCI, after Jesuit Father Stanislaus Tirkey. As per the information received from CBCI, Fr. Stanislaus had been the official for the tribal affairs since the last eight years.
As reported by Matters India, CBCI secretary general Msgr Joseph Chinnayyan quoted that, “The 55year old Divine Word priest Father Nicholas Barla has replaced Jesuit Father Stanislaus Tirkey, who held the position for the past eight years. ” The appointment of Father Barla was decided by the standing committee of CBCI in the early May itself.
Along with Msgr. Joseph Chinnayyan many other religious and officials joined the function including Salesian Father Joseph Manipadam, Sister Talesia, the Secretary of CBCI Education Culture and other CBCI representatives.
