The Federation of Konkani Catholic Associations awarded the Lifetime achievement Award to Fr. Cedric Prakash on Sunday, June 5. Justice V Gopala Gowda, former Judge, Supreme Court of India was the chief guest. The Bishop of Gulbarga, Most Rev. Robert Michael Miranda also graced the occasion.
Fr. Cedric Prakash is a Jesuit priest and also a human rights and peace activist/ writer. He has worked closely with Adivasi communities, tribals, rehabilitation measures for those affected by earthquakes and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). According to him, ‘one should look beyond the small confines of religion or caste and speak up for the voiceless and the persecuted.’
Along with this lifetime achievement award, Fr. Cedric is also the recipient of several awards like Kabir Puraskar, Chevalier of the Legion of Honor, Raf Ahmed Kidwai, Mother Teresa International Award, etc.
