His grace Archbishop Erio Castellucci shared his experience over the First Exorcism he had witnessed with the reporters of Catholic News Agency. He said that the people who believe the devil is not real are dealing with a misconception and he has to witness the act of Exorcism to acknowledge that fact.
The Archbishop of Modena-Nonantola said that although he had seen possessed people throughout his life, he was witnessing an exorcism for the first time. The exorcist had invited the Archbishop to witness Exorcism since that man had been possessed for long and the presence of a bishop will influence him. Recalling the experience of the Exorcism, Archbishop said to the CNA Reporters that the possessed man warned him of bad death and asked him to step out of the place while he stepped into the Parish Church of Modena where the Exorcism was performed. Archbishop Erio said that the man possessed a diabolical look on his face and he uttered unrepeatable curses and insults. After this experience, the Archbishop said that there are possibilities of him attending another exorcism although such activities are few in number.
The Archbishop said that the discernment is important regarding the alleged cases which may have a competence towards a psychiatrist than an Exorcist. He also stressed on the importance of prayers of Deliverance to help the disturbed person to heal.
