Bangalore: Fr. Chetan Machado (44) currently the Executive Secretary of the CCBI Commission for Youth and the National Chaplin for YCS/YSM appointed as the Secretary to the CBCI Council for Youth. This appointment was made by the 136 CBCI Standing Committee meeting, held at St John’s National Academy of Health Sciences, Bangalore in August 2019.
CCBI is the Canonical National Episcopal Conference and CBCI is the Assembly of the Bishops of the three individual Churches, namely Latin, Syro Malabar, and Syro Malankara.
Fr. Chetan was Born on 8 December 1975 in Shirva, Udupi, Karnataka. He did his initial schooling at Don Bosco School, Shirva and completed his graduation at St. Mary’s School Shirva. He joined the St. Joseph’s Seminary, Mangalore in 1993 and went to the Major Seminary, Holy Trinity College, Jalandhar to complete Philosophy in 2000. Studied Theology in Vidyajyoti, Delhi from 2002 to 2006.
Ordained Priest on 2 May 2006. He served the Archdiocese of Delhi as assistant parish priest at St. Alphonsa Church, Vasant Kunj, Sacred Heart Cathedral, Editor of the Archdiocesan website, Director of Youth Commission, Yuvodaya, Head of the Department of Media (Audio Visual) Production and theater of the commission for Social Communications. He was the Secretary of the North Regional Youth Commission (RYD) and the National Chaplin for the YCS/YSM India.
